A beautiful Asphalt-Rubber day in Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) surfaced a 2.5 mile section of aging PCCP on SR 2, a 4-lane urban expressway in Lincoln, with a 2-inch overlay of Asphalt-Rubber hot mix. Preparation for the gap-graded hot mix, in which the aggregate gradation is similar to SMA, included milling the concrete surface to a depth of ¾-inch followed by a ¾-inch leveling course of AC. Dobson Brothers Construction Co. was the prime contractor. FNF Construction, Inc. was the A-R binder supplier. See page four for the photo story of the preconstruction workshop hosted by NDOR, RPA, FHWA, and the Nebraska AGC.
