Gauteng, South Africa has joined RPA as an associate member. The company is the sole African agent for BearCat Manufacturing of Wickenburg, Arizona. They have been manufacturing BearCat Blending Equipment, Final Product Tanks, Road Sprayers and Crack Sealant Equipment for Asphalt-Rubber since 1982. They also represent BearCat Pumps of Phoenix, Arizona. Strocam is also
involved in the manufacture of crumb rubber from buffings as well as whole tire passenger and truck tire processing. In a recent paper, Dr. Jorge Sousa studied the energy used in three common waste tire programs: Alternate Daily Cover, where tire
shreds are used to cover a landfill surface, Tire Derived Fuel, where tire chips are burned as a fuel supplement, and Crumb Rubber Modifier, where granulated rubber is used to modify asphalt binder in pavements. ADC consumed 790 BTUs, TDF saved 13,00 BTUs and CRM saved between 133,400 to 243,400 BTUs.
