Tire Recycling Facts
- Albertans discard over 3 million tires every year.
- No tires have been burned as fuel in Alberta since 1995.
- Over 80 per cent of the rubber material being recycled today
is used right here in Alberta, twice as much as two years ago.

Asphalt Rubber equipment
now Alberta based
In the past, the equipment used to
make asphalt rubber
had to be imported from Arizona. This often caused delays
and inflexibility for Alberta asphalt rubber paving. 2004 is
the first year that the equipment used to create asphalt rubber
is provided by an Edmonton-based company, Fath Industries.
Having an Alberta based company provide the
equipment
means that Alberta's asphalt rubber projects can be
carried out more efficiently and reliably.

The Alberta Asphalt Rubber Steering
Committee
- Behind every asphalt rubber project in Alberta is the Alberta
Asphalt Rubber Steering Committee. This the only committee of
its kind in North America which has representatives from provincial
and municipal governments, industry, and academia. The committee
is comprised of representatives from:
- Alberta Recycling Management Authority EBA Engineering
- Alberta Transportation University of Alberta
- City of Edmonton City of Calgary
- Strathcona County Husky Energy Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy
Construction Association
