RPA/ADOT Offer Desert to Mountain Tour for U.S. Hot Mix Asphalt Conference Attendees Oct. 28th Phoenix, Arizona.


A Pre-conference tour of Arizona DOT Asphalt Rubber paving projects from Phoenix to Flagstaff is being offered free of charge to the registrants at the 5th annual U.S. Hot Mix Conference and Superpave Workshops on Tuesday, October 28th.

George Way, ADOT Pavements Services Engineer and Conference Coordinator for the NAPA/Asphalt Institute sponsored meeting Oct. 29th thru 3 1, will be the tour leader.

Jed Billings, President of FNF Construction and longtime NAPA member, said the tour is being held to demonstrate the successful use of Asphalt-Rubber to rehabilitate aging concrete pavements. He said interest in the ADOT work with the crumb rubber modified OGFC's prompted RPA to offer the tour. The bus tour will start at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 7:30 AM, view an Asphalt-Rubber field blending operation and travel to northern Arizona to view the 7 1/2 year old SHRP project on the 1-40 where the A-R section is out- performing convention materials. Other interstate projects will be shown at various stops. Lunch will be in the scenic mountain town of Flagstaff. Seats are on a first come basis.
