The drafting was done by Maghsoud Tahmoressi,
former Bituminous Engineer for TXDOT who now heads up his own
testing laboratory, PaveTex and Larry Smith, retired Florida
DOT Materials Engineer, who operates QIS Consulting. In 2002, the TAB chaired by Jay McQuillen, P.E., Manger of the Southern California Operations of Granite Construction, added another level of research needs in their recommendations to the RPA Board. They also initiated a update of the strategic research book to include the areas of recommended research that is currently underway. That project is being done by Richard Stubstad of Eres Consulting with assistance from Jack Van Kirk of Basic Resources. The TAB also chose George Way of ADOT, Jay McQuillen of Granite and Byron Lord of the FHWA to draft a paper on the "State of the Industry" for submission to Asphalt Rubber 2003 in Brazil in December. The paper outlines the TAB's role in promoting research as well as the Association's response by sponsoring over $500,000 in projects since 1997. The four additional research projects of immediate industry needs rec-ommended to the RPA Board by the TAB at the Annual Meeting South Padre Island, Texas in early February includes: 1. Noise Data Synthesis 2. Environmental-Emissions Synthesis 3. Performance Evaluation-Development of Review Model 4. Health and Safety Synthesis Annual Meeting in South Padre Island, Texas in early February. |
