ATTENTION CALIFORNIA CITIES AND COUNTIES
Two Asphalt-Rubber/Greenbook Workshops Scheduled.

 The County of Los Angeles Rubberized
Asphalt Concrete Technology Center
has contracted with RPA to organize
two workshops based on the Asphalt-Rubber
(wet process) specification in
sections 200-300 in the Southern
California Greenbook.

   The one-day workshops will also focus
on the Asphalt Rubber Design and
Construction Guidelines published by
the Rubberized Asphalt Concrete
Technology Centers and the California
Integrated Waste Management Board
to promote the use of crumb rubber
from scrap tires in roadway rehabilita-tion
projects throughout the State of
California.

 In addition to presentations on the technical aspects of paving with Asphalt-Rubber, the workshop attendees will be briefed on tire recycling in California. The workshops are free to all California agency personnel and Engineering consultants. Attendees will receive a workbook and a Certificate of Attendance for professional development programs.

RPA will present a comprehensive symposium on the use of crumb rubber in Asphalt pavement, Thursday, September 26, 2002 during the Eastern Regional Tire Recycling Conference sponsored by the Tire Rubber Recycling Advisory Council (TRRAC). The regional conference is being held in conjunction with the 2002 Mega Trade Show Convention hosted by the Service Station Dealers of America and Allied Trades. In addition to the Asphalt-Rubber Symposium, the conference will include an environmental Town Meeting covering issues dealing with state scrap tire programs in the Mid-Atlantic States, a scrap tire processors forum, crumb rubber uses and a fire pre-vention response and safety program. The Asphalt-Rubber Symposium will be held between 1 and 4 pm, September 26, at the Princess Royale Hotel in Ocean City, MD. Mary Sikora, publisher and Editor of the Scrap Tire News will serve as the Symposium Coordinator and Cliff Ashcroft, RPA 2nd Vice President will serve as the Symposium organizer. The presenters will represent State Departments of Transportation, the FHWA, and the Rubber Pavements Association. For State DOT personnel and others who do not wish to attend the entire Tire Recycling Conference, a special one-day registration fee of $79.00 will be charged.
